Ding Dong

Two lads playin footie in the street,

must have been aged only nine or ten,

scruffy young lads - using sweaters as posts,

scoring - over and over again.

Whilst they were playin the 'Beautiful Game',

they noticed an odd thing going on -

the house opposite - a parade of men,

were ringin' at the doorbell - Ding Dong!

A lovely young lady would come to the door.

He'd say "Can I come in? - Ed sent me"

"How much money you got"? - was her reply,

"I've got thirty five quid" says he.

Now this carried on throughout the day,

the lads wondered - what's goin' on here?

Must be som'et nice in that 'ouse over there,

they'd not seen anything quite so queer.

They counted their money, walked up the path,

then pressed hard on that doorbell - Ding Dong!

the lovely young lady was soon at the door,

she didn't keep the boys waitin' too long.

"Can we come in because Ed has sent us?",

they said to her with a wink and a grin,

"How much money you got"? was her reply,

"seventeen pence"! - then she beckoned them in.

She led them through to a dimly lit room,

and duly banged their heads together

She threw them out the way they came in,

and they weren't feelin' so very clever!

They glanced at each other rubbin' their heads,

as in the front garden they sat,

"Thank f--k we only had seventeen pence -

couldn't stand thirty five quids worth of that!"
