Poetry by Jessi

Post by Grumpaz »

My granddaughter, Jessi, jsut turned 18 and has been writing poetry for the past 4-5 years. I have copies of almost everything she's done. Her writing leans toward the dark side but don't shudder. The girl has got her head on quite straight. I'll start with...........

I AM WAR

I am the Fear Forcer.

I rarely am seen.

My muscles are strong.

My senses are keen.

I live in an innocent.

I feed off her fear.

When you see shadows walking,

You'll know we are near.

I'm neither child nor adult,

Not woman or man.

I'm a powerful specter

Taking control of who I can.

The person I own,

I fill them with dread.

They hate me with all they have,

Before they are dead.

I fill someone with hate and greed,

What they do for me is kill.

She feels my glee, I feel her horror,

I love to see blood spill.

The teen I own, she hates me

But for me that is just fine.

I'm slowly turning this bright young girl

Far away from kind.

Everyone has felt me.

Most people call me War.

I'll drill with all my evil 'till

One is blackened to the core.

Now I am the innocent.

I always am seen.

My muscles are strong.

My senses are keen….

Immortal

My wish was granted;

Now I can’t die.

So I shall sit back

And watch years pass me by.

I’ll stay forever young,

And totally unharmed.

Now watch with me, friend,

And don’t be alarmed.

Look at that town,

See how it grows old?

All the people have moved

And the houses are cold.

Now they wage war upon

That magnificent city.

It burns and it crumbles,

Oh, what a pity.

Please don’t be sad.

Everything dies at one point or other-

Oh no! I’ve forgotten!

My siblings! My mother!

God, no! I am cursed!

I must see them pass away.

My family and friends.

I’m in pain every day.

Please let me die.

I don’t want to live.

I am by myself,

And I’ve nothing to give.

I am such a fool.

Stupid, immoral.

For the price to pay is others lives,

When you want to be immortal.
Every morning is the dawn of a new error.

I truly hope you all don't mind my posting them here. I'm just sooo proud of her writing. She's also written a couple books that she hopes to get published some day. I asked her once about the depth and darkness of her poetry and she told me that when the thoughts come into her head she gets them out by writing them down. It's her way of dealing with the small bouts of depression that all teenagers go thru. She says that by putting them down on paper it helps her deal with anything. Altho her writings are dark she has a very happy spirit.
