Don't get me wrong. I am facinated by solar energy. Read on it a lot. I just think it was wrong of our president to fund companies with taxpayer money so frivisly. And they failed!

Uh, a link would have been nice.

Looked for where you got that and there are several so I'll give my favoriate.

List: 36 Of Obama’s Taxpayer-Funded Green Energy Failures

All the same, his failures have been no secret.

As far as solar power I remember having a solar powered transister radio in 1960. Problem was it didn't work in the shade or night.

That is a lesson that the Trumphole should realize as he's trying to manage the economy by fiat.

The Trumphole is already showing his lack of tolerance of a free economy.

I always suspected he was a Democrat pretending to be a Republican.

The problem is, Obama didn't fund them enough. Should have gone all the way, IMO.

Who gave Obama all that money to spend? Doesn't congress control the purse strings?

I really really wish these companies had succeeded. I would love to see solar become more affordable...id love to see solar advancement. Seems like we have been sloooooooow on that front. Maybe Obama was just ahead of his time. Who knows, in a few years there could be breakthroughs making solar go mainstream....

Even in the UK solar power is being successfully deployed (and we have no sunlight) so how come so many US firms have gone under - it sounds like the business model is wrong?

In Crete where the weather is more akin to much of the US virtually all of the power is solar or wind - no trees, no oil = no choice - the government had to get it right and they did.

Trump is more likely to go out of his way to make sure that Solar Energy fails. He makes his money through Oil.

As for the tax payer having paid for the Solar research - at least he's not paid anything towards it - he's smart.

It really doesn't matter from an economical standpoint how many companies fail or succeed because the money involved goes back into circulation where others can earn it either a little bit or large chunks of it at a time. As long as it continues to circulate for the good of the entire population, there is no problem of success or failure. The benefit of a successful venture is that it will result in the employment of more people. But using this as a political paddle in order to spank the person in office is just plain silly.

It's the removal of money from the system to either stuff in one's mattress or invest in the stock market that harms the economy.

I suppose like fox news you think solar energy won't work in the US because it's not sunny enough.

Why worry about solar energy ?

The aim is to become free from fossil fuels with renewable or green energy.

A country famous for it's lack of sunshine, Scotland, has it cracked already...................for one day anyway, with it's wind turbine electricity. HERE

and one of the first things the tories did was cut tax breaks for solar panels causing the numbers installed to plummet and pitting at risk future jobs and investments. The scottish government has a moratoium on fracking at the moment speaking as someone sitting in an area with some of the largest shale oil deposits in the UK I was quite pleased - they only stopped shale oil extraction in the sixties as middle eastern oil was so much cheaper. The Uk government has also passed laws to allow it to overturn local objections to fracking application in england and wales.

It's not just the US that has climate change deniers

Climate change department closed by Theresa May in 'plain stupid' and 'deeply worrying' move | The Independent

The news came after the appointment of Andrea Leadsom – who revealed her first question to officials when she became Energy Minister last year was “Is climate change real? – was appointed as the new Environment Secretary.
