Irish Grand Slam chance today.

Post by Clodhopper »

Well now...:-6

Anyone in Ireland a little twitchy about now? :)

Ireland and Wales are both slightly erratic sides that can be devastating. Both sides have great players: Brian O'Driscoll is back in form, Shane Williams is a great player, Paul O'Connell is playing some of the best Rugby of his career and Gethin Jenkins is making a strong case for a Lions spot.

Ireland haven't won a Grand Slam (beating all the other sides in the competition: England Wales Scotland France Italy) for 61 years. That's a lot of pressure.

Anything could happen.

Gonna be one hell of a game...

Oh yes, we're playing Scotland today as well. :D

Yes, I am very twitchy actually, I am really worried that we are going to be on the recieving end of a Welsh sucker punch, that or the lads will freeze up; hopefully not. Its actually impossible to call this one.

Whatever happens, may the best team win, come on IRELAND! :-6

I'd better drop in on my lad and grab a seat. I hope it's a good game.

I've dragged my two round an art gallery and museum this afternoon then sent them off to run around a park for an hour and a half, all so I could get home and watch the rugby in peace. :D

You may find it hard to believe, young Galbally, but I was cheering the Irish on right the way through that. What a game, eh. Even your photogenic President turned out dressed like she was going to the opera. Jack Kyle was there 61 years on from last winning it himself and had to watch that final 48 metre penalty kick.

Nothing could have pleased me more. What a game. Errors from start to finish on both sides and they still manage to make it that exciting.

He's shockingly quiet, don't you think?

I bet he's out celebrating.

My best congratulations Mike, it was a wonderful finish even if it was closer than anyone might think safe!

YES YES YES

YES, SORRY I WAS ABSENT LAST NIGHT, I HAD PRESSING BUISNESS IN IRELAND CELEBRATING!

What a gripping match, it was an excellent exhibition of power rugby and defence, it looked like WW III out there, to be honest I thought Wales had it at the end, and I could hardly watch, but the Celtic gods were kind to us, and we came through in the end, it was fantastic, a real lift for Irish people at the moment. :-6:-6:-6

If you meet the chap who gave away that last penalty, have words with him.

It was a glorious exciting flawed game and it was exactly the right result. Winning by twenty points wouldn't have been the same now, would it.

All things considered, you're allowed to celebrate today as well.

That was fun, wasn't it. :D

Irish Grand Slam!

That wasn't a game, it was a film script. 50 metre penalty in the dying seconds falling just centimetres short? Hollywood would reject it as too cheesy!

(Oh, and England beat Scotland. Hard game. Two knockouts).
