Sun sinks to a new low

Post by gmc »

They're not publishing this in Scotland, can't think why.

Can't think why they thought nobody would notice.

Fury at sexist Sun as they depict First Minister Nicola Sturgeon in a skimpy tartan outfit riding a wrecking ball like Miley Cyrus - Daily Record

21st century and sexism is alive and kicking. You really have to wonder at the intelligence of the sun editorial staff. Kind of makes the case for the SNP when the opposition parties are incapable of producing any kind of rational debate.

Is the Sun the opposition party or do they just favor the opposition like fox does republicans over here against anyone democratic? Have any of their leaders stepped out and called this foul?

The Sun is just a grubby tabloid targeted at the lower lever 'working' classes. It is unusual in this respect that it is also traditionally Tory Biased. That is, of course, until the support for their party swings too far from their preferred Right Wing, when they turn tail & support the other side. As with when Tony Blair was first voted in, following the growing hatred for the state the Tories had got us in, they changed their political colours mid way & came up with their famous headline, "It's The Sun What Won It".

It's also the Sun that was the first gutter press to include a regular Page 3 topless picture, which at the time was real 'Shock Horror' These days, it's nothing. It can't even be considered as soft porn, yet there are still the feminist movements who are feverishly campaigning to ban it.

I saw a copy of the Sun a few weeks ago while at the Chippy, waiting for my supper to be cooked, and I was amazed at the amount of adverts in the. With no exaggeration, if all the ads & text were separated, the text would only take up about 2.5 pages, while the ads use up the rest (I guess about 15 pages).

Allegedly it has a good sports section.

Is the Sun the opposition party or do they just favor the opposition like fox does republicans over here against anyone democratic? Have any of their leaders stepped out and called this foul?

Right wing gutter press pretending to speak for the working man.

As it happens in Scotland the leader of the tory party is female and a lesbian the labour deputy is female and they have all condemned it. Noticeably no one in the English equivalents have made any comment. Were it of a male party leader there would be mainstream outrage.

And I was hoping the title was creative and the thread was interesting. Oh well.

I thought the title was quite witty and if you're british the next election is going to be very interesting. The Westminster parties are terrified of what will happen if then SNP take seats off labour in Scotland.

I don't think the Westminster Parties are concerned. Labour might be. That's probably the main reason they were opposed to Independance - the majority of Scotland has always been traditionally Labour. The SNP taking over Labour seats would be most welcome to the Tories as they wouldn't stand a chance of winning the seats themselves, but for every seat that the SNP (who don't have a hope in hell of getting into Government) win, that reduces the majority of their REAL competition. The Tories will be all too happy to stir up discontent in Scotland.

When did labour cease to be a Westminster party? Odds are the snp, plaid cymru lib dems (if any are left) and northern Ireland will hold the balance of power at the very least they might stop the tories privatising the NHS not that labour are entirely innocent on that one anyway.

The SNP have stated they will not form a coalition with labour, which is not something the likes of the daily mail tend to report, rather they will vote on a case by case with whatever party has a policy they support. Apart from anything else it would lose them support if they did since most of their new members are ex labour. SNP MP's have always had a policy of not voting on issues that do not affect Scotland - such as education.

tories and labour each have about a third of the electorate voting for them, put another way more than half the voters don't ant the present government in power. Neither thatcher or blair had a majority of the electorate supporting them how they can claim to have had popular support because they had the majority of the seats is the sophistry of the deluded to convince the delusional.

First of all I never said that Labour were not a Westminster Party. Quite the opposite. It was stated that Westminster Parties (as in Plural) were terrified of SNP getting seats in Scotland. My point was that far from being terrified of it, the Tories would welcome it as they have little or no hope of getting those seats anyway, so anyone who gets those seat, other than Labour, is a gain for the Tories. Labour, as a Westminster Party (Singular) might have cause to be terrified (or at least concerned), but certainly not Tory. They've got nothing to lose & everything to gain.
