Ed Miliband, an evil legacy and why we won't apologise | Mail Online
Leaving aside the fact the daily mail was an active supporter of adolf hitler prior to ww2 and indeed right up to the declaration of war and has never lost it's right wing pedigree to suggest that socialists are somehow unpatriotic is a pathetic calumny that beggars belief. If you like institutions like the NHS and our welfare state don't bother thanking the right wing tories for them because it's no thanks to them that we have them. Currently they are setting about dismantling them not for any good reason but simply for right wing idealogical reasons that find the benefits wrought for ordinary people in this country by socialist policies after ww2 abhorrent.

Oddly enough, I take some small comfort in the fact that we are not the only country with a raving batch of right wing-nuts out to dismantle the good that has been done in the last century.

It's a Revolution by the Ultra Rich. They'd bring back Feudalism if they could; a rigid class system where they get to keep everything; own everything; Are Everything. We can't let them succeed, those bastards. I've had enough of them.

It's a detestable rag. The closest thing we have to Fox News. Looks like even their own readership think they wrong judging by the comments

The sole problem with the Daily Mail is that it has a readership. If the prats who pay money for it every day learnt to do without their sensationalist junk-fix the paper would have to grow up and adopt rational reporting instead of schlock.

The former owner of the DM was Viscount Rothermere who In 1934 wrote an article titled ' Hurrah for The Blackshirts'. They praised Mosley to the hilt.

You do surprise me as not so in the closet fascist I would have thought you would be cheering them on.
In a way it's maybe a good thing, we have rather lost the language of gloves off confrontational politics that made this country what it is. Instead we have a kind of insipid biffing each other with handbags. If labour said they were going to re-nationalise the utilities and would do the same to the royal mail if they get in I would be willing to bet they win the next election. Not so much rip off Britain as bend over and take and god bless the tories.
We have a parliamentary democracy because we executed a king and curbed the power of his successor and of the religious authorities. Our security and freedom is in no part due to respect for institutions like the monarchy or the church. Indeed ask most people in the country right now and utter contempt is the more likely response.

I'm all for the gloves off style of politics. There are 27 Labour Councillors who have been convicted of child abuse. Why should we not know about that.? Or all the Tories charged with fraud over expenses.
The only problem I have with the DM Is that much of the reporting Is down to journalists scouring local newspapers and then printing the entire story word for word. I got lucky with the Daily Mail thank god because they really can dictate the nations viewpoint on a story. I was lucky they ran with ' Hero's daughter dragged before the courts' and not something far worse. If anything good came of It, It was that the Royal British Legion got a wealth of donations off the back of It and I was Invited onto BBC radio 9 times now. Yet, god help anyone on the wrong side of their reporting.

This Is a very good example of the hypocrisy of the media and the politics.
Millpede's Father apparently said he hoped Britain lost the second world war and that's what all this Is about...
Yet watching Question Time the other night, I nearly choked listening to every single panalist say ' everyone says stupid things they regret when they are young and It shouldn't be used against them 30 or 40 years later'.....
Wonder If Nick Griffin laughed also?

The daily mail supported hitler and the british union of fascists right up to the start of the war as did some members of the royal family. Before they went for immigrants and muslims they went after jews in the same way. The rhetoric is the same now as it was then only the targets differ and they are still supporting fascists. maybe if millipede had some socialist policies he might actually get some votes.

But then It's only fair to say that ownership of the DM has changed over the past 60 years and so have views. Now the fascists are the enemy.

Yes, this time but generally speaking, they target the far right more frequently and with greater ferocity.
