The Police don't want em, nobody knows who their candidates are, or what the actual job involves.

I predict the lowest ever electoral turn out.

I predict the lowest ever electoral turn out. We got our polling cards yesterday and I'm not bothering.

I'll be very Interested In the turn out stats.... I predict less than 40 %

But what improvements can another layer do for the delivery of law enforcement, what exactly are these people supposed to do ?

Yea Yea......that's what they are telling us.

They tell us lots of stuff, that's their job, our job is to question it.

Why do we need to elect a Police Commissioner, policing shouldn't be tied to political parties, police standards should be set by professionals not elected lay people.

I need to read up on it before I head out to vote, if I do.

I was shocked to see some candidates tied to political parties too, if I do vote, it will be for an independent person.

I think you have summed it all up in that sentence.

The powers that be have decided we need to have yet another salary to pay from public money, the excuse, to improve the delivery of Policing in the fight against crime.

What exactly is broken with the way we are policed, that having a Police Commissioner will fix ?

Ever wish you'd not started looking into something :wah:

I've got ten candidates to choose from

BBC News - Devon and Cornwall police and crime commissioner candidates

as at the moment, I will go and vote, if only to try to ensure that one particular name there does not get in. Now, to pick someone out of the remaining nine :wah:

It's easy to throw some of those ten out. I know which of them I'd put a tick next to, he does stand out from the pack.

So......is this the public's way of commenting on this new post ?

The Electoral Reform Society branded the elections a "comedy of errors" after a record low turnout left at least one polling station - in the Newport area - completely unused. It said it could end up being the lowest voter turnout ever in peacetime history.
