trying save dog

Post by southern yankee »

I heard a story on the news this morning. a man was going down the highway around 100. He was trying to get his dying pet to the vet. the cops pulled him over. the man was very upset. The cop when he found out a dog was dying not a person. Gave the frantic man a very hard time, it took 20 minutes to write the man a ticket. by then it was too late. the dog was GONE. the cop said coldly "it is only a dog you can get another." Well the cop was reprimanded for his words and actions, PLus was told to take a sensitivity class. What do you think??

I think the man should have told the cop he was going to the vet and to meet him there and then write him a damn ticket.

I think that SOB cop should be canned professionally and taken into a dark alley otherwise.

Anyone who thinks you "just get another" and that animals are dispensable is ignorant trash, plain and simple. A badge means nothing.

I also think the man should sue the city/county/cop for property endangerment and hence destruction because since animals are still considered a person's property with no rights of their own, that cop's sh*tty behavior cost the dog its life and cost the man his "property."

I hope they do sue. He could have esscorted them. that is why cops get such a bad name.. you see cops everyday driving as fast as they want.

It's obvious to me that the cop never had a pet. You do become attached to them as they become a part of your family.

It is sad that the dog died.

I just cannot comprehend a cop doing that, I would have expected him to escort the owner and the dog.

Jimbo, how would you feel if your whole family was wiped out because of an untrained driver crashing while rushing his dying child to the hospital?

For some of us a life is a life. And a family member can wear skin or fur.

the cop could have at least given him an escort.

An escort would have been the least he could do. Hell, he could have written the ticket at the vet's office.

The officer was reprimanded.

We had an escort one day, and we thanked the cop a million times, and there was no ticket issued, given our reason.

some are more understanding I guess.
