Is Adam Smith's grand illusion (delusion is more like it) finally dead in America? I hope so and if its not I believe it is at least dying.

Why do you think that's his idea? I think you'll find that was gordon gecko. That isn't actually his idea but a perversion of it that has became popular. There's a bit more to his ideas than that. Have you actually read for yourself any of his writings or just someone's commentary on them?

You've got me there, gmc. In my endeavor to start a thread I've probably gotten myself into saying something I should not have. I am up for some educating though should you care to do so.

Lately I've been reading up on lifes view from an evolutionary perspective and came across some commentary regarding this subject.

I would advocate you always ask someone going on about capitalism, be it pro or anti, what they have read to formulate their opinion. If you can't explain why you think about something the way you do you dont actually have an opinion but are just repeating what you have heard

Adam Smith - An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations - The Adam Smith Institute

Might I suggest these as well?

Age of Enlightenment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Social Darwinism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

YouTube - Nostradamus - Al Stewart
