Music videos pulled from YouTube in row over licensing - Telegraph

Musicians will lose out from this action. Even PRS, who are trying to negotiate a royalty fee with YouTube are not happy that YouTube are deleting the videos.

Deletion?

They're still available to the public from Youtube in other countries. There's a Youtube filter barring delivery to the UK. It's because of the greed of the Performing Rights Society management and personally I hope they are sufficiently hard-hit by Google's action that they take early retirement. They - the PRS - an inbred bunch of grasping sleazebags who act solely on their own behalf and stifle creativity the way the Third Reich stifled Eastern Europe. They've done more damage to the music industry than any other group of self-interested profiteers I can bring to mind. Thank you Google, nail their bloody hides to the wall.

I agree Spot, due to the PRS we cant listen to the radio or even a cd in work now, Christmas office party was dire:D. We have to buy a licence apparently and the NHS cant go buying licenses for every dept and I'm told it is £1000 so its out of the workers league too.. Totally damaging the music industry.

I've clicked their "contact us" and invited the PRS into the thread:We'd appreciate a response at http://www.forumgarden.com/forums/music ... ost1155020

It'll take you two minutes to register.

You really need to get the public on your side, your public perception is about as bad as it gets. Typhoid Mary would be more welcome at parties than you guys.

God knows. Never seen them. Where are they? You talking about music quasi porn videos. If they're official releases, they'll be deleted.

I think I saw enough of them in real life in Dewsbury to last me a lifetime. They should be in the tragicomedy section.:wah:

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | YouTube music video row heats up

Matters are deadlocked. I hope Google stand by their guns over this. Putting up with what's effectively blackmail from PRS would be a terrible mistake. I'd rather see the content blocked indefinitely as a constant reminder of the intransigent grasping backwardness of some UK institutions. Someone should have done this to BT in their pomp back in the 80s for example.

Without seeing the actual figures they are wrangling over, it's difficult to judge who exactly is conning who. Generally, I'd have thought that something along the lines of what is paid by the BBC, which is effectively available worldwide, would be about right and appropriate for Google also.

I'm sorry to hear that buttercup, I haven't even noticed it's happened. Being as far behind the times as I am has strange effects.

On the other hand my life's been continually blighted by the PRS for the last quarter century, may their principals rot in pain. They're a disaster to the UK's cultural life, they need hurting hard.

Oh just give me the nod. It'll be a pleasure
