Anyone out there planning on buying a new blender? Thought I would let

you know about the one I just got... my mom's old "beehive" from the

1950's. Hadn't been used in maybe 20/30 years, it was relegated to my

dad's funky kitchen cabinets in his garage, cleaned 'er up, plugged 'er

in... and voila... strawberry smoothie!!

Does the phrase "They don't make 'em like they used to" come to mind?

I used to use a hand beater (the kind where you turn the handle to get the beaters to move) and my mom harrassed me to get a 'real' one. So I went to the 50s vintage store and bought an electric beater from the 50s. She gave up on me.

I don't have it anymore. One of my exes took a beater and put it in his drill to make mashed potatoes. Freakin' hilarious. He never gave the beater back.

i can relate, have had an oster for years, makes a mean margarita....so then i succumb and buy a cuisinart for the odd $300. plus 937 attachments...none of which i ever use! they just sit there and stare at me balefully. and take up space.~~~but thinking of appliances...who can live without the kitchenaid mixer??? i cannot.
