This photo provided by the Bancroft Arnesen Explore shows Liv Arnesen as she pulls a sled during a North Pole expedition in Ward Hunt Island, Canada, Tuesday, March 6, 2007. The expedition, which was intended to be a 530 mile (853 kilometers) trek across the Arctic Ocean and meant to bring attention to global warming, was called off March 10 after Arnesen suffered frostbite in three of her toes. About GLOBAL warmin..........
Just ask these people WHO set out to prove global warming:
LINK HERE:
http://www.physorg.com/news92982598.html
Then there was the cold - quite a bit colder, Atwood said, than Bancroft and Arnesen had expected. One night they measured the temperature inside their tent at 58 degrees below zero, and outside temperatures were exceeding 100 below zero at times, Atwood said.
AHHHH Yes Global WARMING..........
Sent out to prove it and get FROST BITTEN........... From 100 below temps...........
Yes........ this is GLOBAL WARMIN at it's BEST......
BUTT........... It still FROST me arse!!!!!!!!!

Scientists monitoring the electromagnetic emission spectrum of the moon announced this week that the moon has warmed 2.7°C since measurements first began in 1957 and that the rate of increase is accelerating rapidly. NASA's JPL speculates that the expansion of earth's atmospheric layer due to global warming has spilled excess carbon dioxide beyond the earth's gravitational well and that the moon is consequently accumulating an atmosphere for the first time in its existence. Calculations suggest that this transfer effect will eventually stabilize global warming while transforming lunar conditions to resemble Hawaii without the beaches.

Is not SCIENCE to disprove everything before it is a fact of science?
A carpenter, a schoolteacher, and scientist were traveling by train through Scotland when they saw a black sheep through the window of the train.
"Aha," said the carpenter with a smile, "I see that Scottish sheep are black."
"Hmm," said the school teacher, "You mean that some Scottish sheep are black."
"No," said the scientist glumly, "All we know is that there is at least one sheep in Scotland, and that at least one side of that one sheep is black."

Yes.
Well, no.
The hottest was in El Azizia, Libya, on 13/9/1922. 136 °F.
However, you're missing the point. Global warming is a global climate thing, not a single temperature at a single station thing.
The magnitude of anthropogenic warming is about 1°C at the moment. Local effects swamp it on a day to day and certainly a location to location basis, but it is still damaging the cryosphere, increasing disease, driving animals out of their habitats, destroying the world's coral ecosystems, increasing fresh water stress and flooding, and increasing starvation in the third world.
It kills a conservative 150,000 people per year currently. (See Impact of regional climate change on human health, Patz et al, Nature Vol 438,17 November 2005)
And it is estimated to commit to extinction about 35% of all the world's species by 2050, for high range climate change estimates. (See Extinction risk from climate change, Thomas et al, Nature, Vol 427, 8 January 2004).
Note that the current climate change is greater than the high range estimates:
(Graph from Global and regional drivers of accelerating CO2 emissions, Raupach et al, PNAS, June 12 2007,vol. 104)
The point being that global changes of less than a degree will be utterly devastating, but obviously at any station local weather varies much more than this on any time scale larger than about a minute.

Again, this is a regional phenomenon. Globally this summer is a lot hotter than 76 years ago, 1930 was about 0.5°C cooler than today, globally.
You should be careful about articles that cite work by the Cato Institute. They are funded by fossil fuel interests. Cato Institute has received $110,000 from ExxonMobil alone since 1998. They are one of these groups that are simply lying about global warming to protect the business of their funders.

This is interesting, but again it is only a regional effect, much like the cold snap earlier this year in America, which was exacerbated by global warming which provided the energy to drive the cool winds from Canada that brought all the snow.

This is untrue and a misquote.
The article that you link to is called:

It does mention the summer of 1936, but not the September, as your altered title suggests.
And 1998 was the warmest year so far on record for the world.

The article that you link to is called:
SEPTEMBER 1998 WAS WARMEST ON RECORD -- GLOBALLY AND IN UNITED STATES, NOAA REPORTS
It does mention the summer of 1936, but not the September, as your altered title suggests.
And 1998 was the warmest year so far on record for the world.
Never altered anything.....Was hottest 'September" on record.....?
Is September in the summer or NOT?
And the hottest (Sept. 1936) EVER to boot!!!!

Why not go back to the Medieval Warming Period?
Does that work into your equation?
They would be right up there with todays weather temps
One question..
How did the Vikings settle GREENLAND and grow crops etc?

I saw a discussion on the box at the time.
But this kind of increased energy in the system that creats strong circulation between the equator and the pole, (which is what happened, a warm northbound airflow, very wet above a cold, very dry, southbound air flow), are a well enough understood consequence of increasing the temperature differential between the equator and the pole.

Well yes you did. The article says " SEPTEMBER 1998 WAS WARMEST ON RECORD -- GLOBALLY AND IN UNITED STATES, NOAA REPORTS
", and your link says " SEPTEMBER 1936 WAS WARMEST ON RECORD -- GLOBALLY AND IN UNITED ..."
You changed the link to say that September 1936 was the warmest, but the articles says September 1998 was the warmest.
Now it should be clear that 1936 is not 1998.

Because I was graphing the effect of the industrial revolution.
The MWP, as with your cold February 2007, was not a global phenomenon. Here is a reconstruction of temperature of the northern hemisphere from the NOAA website, based on an analysis of multiple ice core and tree ring data. (see: Mann, M.E., R.S. Bradley and M.K. Hughes, "Northern hemisphere temperatures during the past millennium: inferences, uncertainties and limitations." Geophysical Research Letters, vol. 26, pp. 759-762. 1999):

Well, no.

In much the same way as crops are grown there today.
They grow vegetables and farm sheep in southern Greenland. And it is quite lush and green.
The closest core to the Viking settlement, (Dye3) suggests the warmest temperatures there of the past several thousand years were reached in the 20th Century.
