E-readers

<t>I always told myself I wouldn't get one, however, we only have one (really terrible) bookstore and the library is located across town - so I broke down and paid about $150 - a little more than I'd like to spend on it. I like it, I find myself reading a lot more than I normally would. Since all th...

Autism - What is it?

<t>I think the "umbrella" for it has gotten a lot larger. My mother got me diagnosed with autism when I was in my awkward teen years. I got interviewed by a neurologist (there was no actual testing, just a social interview) and my psychologist signed off on it - way too easy. I honestly am pretty ce...

Should you 'Buy This Now!'?

<t>I did buy one or two things that caught my eye, but I had low expectations for all of them. I think the last thing I bought was something called a "wonderfile" (I was going to use it for college) and they added a second order to it and charged me for it. I was expecting to spend around $35 ... wi...

Thanks for posting this... we're getting a new place soon and right now we have black couches, and tan rugs. :-) We weren't really sure how to brighten things up.

Credit Card Question

I have one through Wells-Fargo. I randomly pay a surprise $20 every year... I don't think it ever occurs on the same month though. I don't know when to expect it. It sucks, but it could be worse.

Somewhat of a delayed intro

Hey everyone,

I'm Maristar, I'm in my early/mid-twenties - I'm married, working and going to college. We don't really have much, but I have a lot of stories to share. Chatting is nice. :)

Baby Carrots - How safe are they really?

That's really interesting, I did have about a quarter of a bag of baby carrots once and I couldn't stop vomiting for hours. It felt like I had food poisoning. I've never been able to eat them since.

<t>I found out that gas/heating has gone up about 100% - and I'm always freezing, so I've used quite a bit of it. I'm forced to turn it off, and it's freezing at night. I don't want to even think about what our electric is going to be... and I just had to spend extra money on the cat because his old...

DORE, anyone used then before? *Update* - Being taken into Foster Care

<t>Sorry, I don't know the whole situation but I read the first couple pages and something clicked. I was a behavioral paraprofessional at several elementary schools and I worked with a lot of kids that acted similar to your child. Has anyone ever suggested oppositional defiant disorder? I was a kid...

I'd probably save it too. I need wedding money and I should probably put some aside for emergencies.

Problem people

<t>As hard as it is, I just try my best to either ignore or avoid them. My one friend is causing me grief right now and putting herself and her family in danger but some people are too pig-headed to be changed. If you confront them about it, it'll usually end badly. Play it safe and let them learn t...

Menstruation - An Unnatural Event?

<r>My cousins are on it. They couldn't really figure out the whole condom situation (to put it nicely) and they ended up messing up on birth-control so it was the only other option. I'm hesitant to try it or anything other than condoms. I know a couple girls (nobody in my family) who reacted badly t...

<t>Last summer, Socks, my eighteen year old cat passed away. I had moved away to attend college and get married, so she was left with my grandmother and lived there happily with a few other senior-aged cats and dogs. I never got to say goodbye, she died before I could manage to save up money and mak...

<t>I learned that I'm really ahead of both myself and most people. I put in about fifteen applications a week or so ago and I'm just starting to get people calling me up for interviews. <t>My boy and I are going on a diet.. so, we're aiming for the lower-calorie dry foods. Does a 6 year old need a cell phone?

If I was the parent, I'd want to know where my child was at all times. At that age he/she would either be at school, with friends (with supervision) or at a family member's house, not running around the neighborhood. A cell-phone wouldn't be needed.

They're too expensive and too sugary/calorific in my opinion (I can't have the skinny stuff, long story.) I'll go there once in a while, but I don't make a habit of it. I'd rather go to the gas station and get a 16oz cup of black coffee for a $1, or make my own.

Boy, 6, charged with a felony after hitting teacher, cop

<t>That's ridiculous. I used to teach in Arizona and I had desks, chairs, shoes and books thrown at me on a constant basis. Granted, I taught the "challenged" children whom had problems like oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disorder but it's just part of the job and it was expected. I do ad...
